和大多數人一樣，我是讀中文小學長大的。升中派位給派到英文中學去，為免一下子全盤轉用英語難以適應，秋子替我報了一個英語預備班。於是，上中學前的暑假常要跑到德福花園某學校的校舍上課。

有關這個英語班的種種已一概不記得。不過，記得在一次preposition的課堂上，老師播放The Carpenters的〈Top Of The World〉，讓我們將漏空的on/of/in/at/to/for一一填回歌詞紙上去。這首動聽的歌在課堂上播了兩次，是我第一首有印象的英語流行曲。

剛剛在Google上搜尋了三隻字，得到三條資料，指向同一個人。想來應是這個英文課程上認識的同學吧？沒有發生過深刻的事，說不上有甚麼友誼，不過單單短暫相處過幾星期──甚至很有可能不是在同一個班上，因為報讀人多，相同的課程分了幾個班，同時上課，同時放小息。隔了這些年，本應甚麼印象都不剩下，只是這天飯後上網，無緣無故地，早已給活埋在大腦皮層下的名字忽然蹦了出來而已。

看看那三條資料，這同學的英文名竟是_____。我與這英文名真有緣。
